The Maps Section

The maps section appears on Google SERPS directly below the paid section. It features a number of different businesses based off of the geographic area searched from, or the one manually searched for by entering either a zip code, state, county, city, or town within the search. Google currently allows three businesses to rank in the first page of results within this section.

In order to rank well in this area you need to make sure your Google My Business listing is fully optimized. Products and services offered, business categories, descriptions, and service areas need to be well-defined in the listing. Furthermore, reviews play a HUGE factor in how you rank here. The more positive reviews your business has, and the more recently they’ve come in for you the better.

  The Organic Section:

The organic section is typically the most difficult to rank well within on a Google SERP. This section is called organic because the only way to rank well here is to fully optimize your website according to what Google is currently looking at, and then wait for Google to notice your site, index it, and decide where you will appear on the SERP based off of what keywords are entered in the search.
