Based in Northwest Washington, Earthworks tree service provides full tree services including removal, trimming, pruning & commercial services. They signed up for Google Ads right as the Covid pandemic was hitting in 2020. They were skeptical that these ads would be effective given that a lot of people may not have been looking for their services at that time.

The Problem

Tree services are a Google Guaranteed service, so Ads would be a secondary spot on Google Search results. They had other competitors already doing Ads and they still had to go up against some major companies like Home Advisor and Angie’s List.


The Methodology

Being very specific with keyword usage to keep away from vague landscaping clicks and delivering only the tree services they offer would be crucial. Then making sure a thorough negative keyword list was also added to “weed out” those possible bad clicks even further. They were willing to invest a considerable budget of $2000 per month which gave us the ability to place optimal bids on some of the most effective keywords. We utilized all types of ads including Search, Call-Ads, Responsive Search and Map Ads. We then placed higher bids on the days and times that would be considered most effective in getting the best leads.

The Results

After being on the program for over a year they’ve generated over 3000+ clicks, 540+ unique calls and their ads have been viewed 60k+ times. In Google search results, they are the top-appearing company (out of 14+ competitors) currently running Google Ads with nearly 70% impression share. They are at the top of search results 79% of the time. The addition of map ads has allowed for nearly 300 additional interactions from potential customers to find information about their services. Without a doubt, Google Ads has allowed Earthworks Tree Service to dominate the local market.
